1970s/80s Jack Nicklaus Match-Worn “Golden Bear” Sweater

Certificate No: 26354

Today's generation thinks that Tiger Woods devised the idea of wearing red when the chips are down. Well, young Eldrick, another man beat you to the punch a long time ago. Jack Nicklaus traditionally wore red sweaters when he was eating up the competition. In fact, Nicklaus owns the most prestigious record among golfers with his 21 majors titles. Nicklaus match-worn accessories are among the toughest to find, but such an opportunity is now presented - one with concrete provenance. The sweater was donated by the Nicklaus family to the Junior League of Palm Beaches, Inc. The letter, written in green felt tip and dated 11/9/04, reads: "These items were donated to the Junior League Boutique to the best of our knowledge, by the Jack Nicklaus Household. Mrs. Barbara Nicklaus is a member of the Junior League at the Palm Beaches & contributes merchandise & household goods regularly to raise money for the charity." This Golden Bear red sweater does not have a manufacturer's tag but features the exclusive Golden Bear emblem on the lower left region near the front tail. A photo of Nicklaus, wearing this exact style in the 1975 Masters, will attend this garment. An amazing piece of golf memorabilia which belongs in only the truest fan's collection.
