Chuck Connors Political Collection Featuring Photos and Inaugural Invitation
Certificate No: 45123
Chuck Connors truly lived the life and dreams of more than a dozen men. He was a true American who never hesitated in demonstrating his patriotism. On one occasion, he learned of a public flag burning in New York’s Central Park. He became so outraged that he organized his own “Parade America,” and raised an undefiled flag on the same spot in Central Park - a flag that had flown at the Capitol. Chuck then sent the flag to General Westmoreland, the Commander of U.S. forces in Viet Nam with the slogan “Pride not protest, devotion not dissent.” This earned him the respect of the nation. Although Chuck was not a politician, our favorite lawman certainly was a key supporter to the Republican Party. Chuck had befriended many heads of state, and he was particularly friendly with former President Ronald Reagan. Chuck had retained a number of mementos dating to the Eisenhower Administration. Offered is a nice collection of photographs that feature Chuck posed with statesmen to include John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, George Bush and Dwight D. Eisenhower. Since Chuck was a good friend of Reagan's, the collection includes quite a few photos with Chuck ‘on the campaign trail.’ Included is Chuck's original appointment as an “Honorary Citizen of the State of Alabama." The centerpiece is Chuck's personal invitation to attend the Inaugural for Ronald Reagan, along with his invitation to the swearing-in ceremony.

Chuck Connors “Brooklyn Dodgers” Jacket w/Family Letter & Photo of Connors Wearing Jacket
Certificate No: 35790
Tailored in the style of the early button-up style of genuine dugout jackets, we present Chuck Connors’ Brooklyn Dodgers jacket. The ballplayer-turned-Hollywood star purchased this jacket years after his pivotal choice of acting over baseball. Chuck remained proud of his boyhood team, the Dodgers, and remained a loyal fan for life. Chuck’s son, Steve, declared that this was his dad's favorite jacket and he wore it whenever possible. The jacket is a navy blue, wool, button-up, waist-length jacket with ”Brooklyn” sewn across the chest. The jacket (EX-Large) by today’s standards, is “vintage” and was manufactured by Empire Uniforms of New York. The jacket does display considerable, yet responsible, wear.

Chuck Connors and Richard Nixon Photograph, w/Nixon Cufflinks and Tie Clasp
Certificate No: 36065
Among the personal effects in the Chuck Connors estate were these delights. In a rather impromptu pose, Connors is seen in this photograph which was taken in the Oval Office in 1973. Richard Nixon, it seems, is taking benefit in advice from "The Rifleman" - doubtlessly, some wisdom in dealing with those muck-raking reporters at the Washington Post. The photograph is probably a Type I (from the original negative and developed shortly thereafter). It's matted to expose 13" x 8-1/4", and remains in NM condition. Sharing their dedication to the conservative cause, Nixon also awarded Chuck a handsome jewelry ensemble - which is included here as well. Composed of presidential cuff links and a matching tie clasp, all three of these pieces are in impeccable NM/MT condition. There are absolutely no stampings on any of the metallic surfaces (manufacturer or gold content), but they simply radiate the finest in material and craftsmanship. And, naturally, they're presented in designer boxes (EX/MT) bearing Richard Nixon's simulated signature.

Chuck Connors Personal Gun Cabinet
Certificate No: 20469
American Memorabilia is pleased to present Chuck Connors' personal gun cabinet, arguably the centerpiece of his personal collection. Although Connors was born and raised in Brooklyn, when he relocated to the West and portrayed Lucas McCain, the “Rifleman,” a part of that character stayed with him. When Connors adopted Tinseltown, he wasn't absorbed by the glamour or the estates in Beverly Hills. In fact, he purchased an 80-acre ranch outside Bakersfield. In reviewing photos of Connors at home, his appearance was that of a rancher. As reported by author David Fury, “The telephone pole fence that encompassed this ranch was built by Chuck and his son Jeffery.” According to Maurice “Moe” Hunt, Chuck had a passion for guns. Moe, an accomplished gunsmith, had been commissioned on several occasions to make firearms for Chuck, and they were close friends. This gun cabinet, that stored his priceless relics has a rich history that bridged Connors' professional life with his home life. The cabinet was given to Connors in 1963 by Jerry Wilder, a prominent writer for “The Rifleman.” Wilder presented Connors with the pine cabinet, which displays a design and finish that's as fashionably rustic as the Old West. The cabinet measures 71" high by 28" wide by 16 1/2" inches deep and it weighs 80 pounds. It has a glass door on top and two drawers below. The interior backing of the case has been lined in green felt, similar to that of a fine billiard table, with wooden separators to store up to five rifles. On the top front of the cabinet is a small brass plaque that reads “To Chuck Connors From JW.” Hand-engraved on the outside wood surface are the initials “JW” and “CC.” On the right panel there appears a hand-engraved “Doc.” Though unconfirmed, it's our guess that this was done by or for Ralph Moody, who played the role of Doc Burrage from 1960-63. On the ledge that separates the top from the bottom there's another etching that reads “1810-1890,” the significance of which is unclear. For nearly 30 years, this gun cabinet was prominently displayed in the Connors home and was a furnishing of utmost endearment.

Chuck Connors Personal Award from the Hollywood “Walk Of Fame”
Certificate No: 22560
Star gazing in Hollywood doesn’t require looking up, in fact it’s just the opposite. The biggest stars in Hollywood are beneath your heels on the world-renowned Hollywood "Walk of Fame." This famous landmark runs along Hollywood Boulevard from Gower Street to La Brea Avenue; and on Vine Street from Yucca Street to Sunset Boulevard. Every June a committee convenes at the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to conduct the selection of which celebrity is to receive his/her star along this prestigious walk. This time-honored tradition began in 1960 with the installment of 2,500 blank “stars” along Hollywood Blvd. Today about 2,130 have been filled. These renowned sidewalk "stars" salute the celebrities who have made Hollywood great. On July 18, 1984, “The Rifleman,” Chuck Connors, had a brass star set in the terrazzo along Hollywood Blvd. Prior to receiving this honor, Chuck received two Golden Globe Awards in 1959. American Memorabilia is pleased to offer the star (the unique, symbolic counterpart) given to Chuck Connors on the day his name was immortalized on the Hollywood "Walk of Fame." This star was proudly and prominently displayed in Connors' home until his passing in 1992. Every celebrity presented with a star on the walk receives a plaque such as this as a keepsake to commemorate their "enshrinement." Today, the style of the actual plaque given has changed. The plaque offered here, the one Connors received, is an older style. This style is a solid wood, deep-recess frame (approximately 3 inches) - to render a pronounced three-dimensional effect. The engraved star and plaque is affixed to a black-felt background for maximum contrast. Overall, the frame measures 14" x 10", which is consistent with many others so gifted in the same era. The plaque comes with a cover with a laminated photograph of Connors holding this plaque beside his star on the "Walk of Fame." This majestic prize also comes with an additional photograph of Chuck posed holding the award.
